Bob Burdick
Consultant and Trainer, Burdick Training and Safety Consulting Services
Bob Burdick is a Professional Safety Consulting and Trainer with 28 years of experience as an Occupational Health & Safety professional in the General Industry and Construction field. He retired June 2014 as a safety officer for FEMA MATF-1, based out of Beverly, MA where he was part of the Urban Search and Rescue Team, overseeing safety for team members during rescue deployments. Bob is an experienced trainer for General Industry, Construction, and the Fire Services.

Bob is an instructor with the National Safety Council - New England Chapter, The Chair for the MESHE (Maine Employers for Safety and Health Excellence), SHARP and SHAPE With Maine Department Of Labor and OSHA. He is also chair for the Town of Wilton Safety Committee, Training officer for the Town of Wilton Fire & Rescue, and is a Franklin County Hazardous Material Instructor.
James T. {JT} Benton, CSP
Consultant and Trainer, National Safety Council - New England Chapter
JT has over 22 years of health and safety experience including construction, general industry and industrial hygiene. JT holds a master’s degree in Safety Management from the University of Tennessee. He is also a Certified Safety Professional (CSP). He was a volunteer member of the SCWNE board for a decade prior to coming onboard full-time in 2022.
On a personal level, he is the father of two teenage boys. In his spare time, he enjoys playing adult co-ed kickball, bowling and watching movies.

Joseph Cooper
NSC-NEC Instructor
Joe Cooper is a highly experienced Certified Instructor and Emergency Response Trainer with over 12 years of professional experience. His expertise in emergency readiness and response has been honed through a decade-long career in the Coast Guard, where he ran training teams on ships for all facets of emergency readiness from Engineering to Damage Control.
During his time in the Coast Guard, Joe understood the importance of training and emergency preparedness. He has since applied this knowledge to his work as a member and chair of the GE Healthcare EHS team for Emergency Response. Through this role, he has developed a superior program that has helped bring VPP certification to a plant with 300+ people and zero incidents, a testament to the effectiveness of his approach.
As an instructor, Joe is known for his ability to engage and inspire his students, fostering a deep understanding of the material and encouraging active participation in the learning process. He has a passion for teaching and sharing his knowledge with others, and his dedication to his craft is evident in the results he has achieved throughout his career.
Dan Cote
NSC-NEC Instructor
Dan Cote is an industry leader in Loss Prevention and a nationally recognized authority in the safety and health arena. Dan served as Sr. Vice President, Safety Consulting, at MEMIC Insurance Company in Portland, Maine. At MEMIC, he designed and coordinated development of safety consulting strategy for MEMIC customers with a primary focus on workers compensation loss prevention and leadership development. Dan created and led the process to achieve substantive culture change within each industry base, reducing injury claims by over 35% statewide. Dan also served as President of MEMIC Safety Services, providing consulting services to other insurers across the country, as well as an officer on the board of directors for the MEMIC Indemnity Co. charged with exporting Workers Compensation Coverage across the USA.
Prior to MEMIC, Dan provided nearly a decade of service at USF&G Insurance Co., in leadership roles culminating as a Regional Manager based in Baltimore, Maryland.
Dan’s education and certifications include: CPCU, MBA, MS, Six Sigma & Operational Excellence, for the insurance industry, the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business on Corporate Strategy, and Wharton’s Executive Development Program. His most recent designation is that of UL Certified Risk Professional – Property and MSHA instructor.
Moe Langlois
NSC-NEC Instructor
Moe Langlois has been in the aggregate business nearly 25 years. His path in the industry has taken him through various administrative, operational and management roles, including Health & Safety. Moe has been actively presenting MSHA Part 46 training since its inception in 2001. He is a DDI certified facilitator with a passion for keeping attendees engaged in the learning process. His knack for asking questions is the foundation of his presentations. He is the master of the “What if”. Aside from keeping miners safe, Moe taught Motorcycle Safety training for 10 years through the State of New Hampshire.
Richard Leute
NSC-NEC Instructor
Rich is a National Safety Council Instructor /Instructor Trainer since 1998. He holds many Certifications in NH, NY & CT for Instruction and is a retired New York State DMV Commercial Bus Driver Examiner. Rich has a background of almost 20 years in School Bus, Motor Coach, Public and Para Transit Bus Safety, Operations and Management. In addition, Rich holds Bus Accident Investigation Certifications from the Public Transportation Safety Board and Federal Transit Administration. Both his experience and engaging story-telling ability lend strong credibility to his presentation style. Rich was awarded the National Safety Council's Instructor of the Year in 2008 and 2015.

Don Olesen
Founder, Nutera Safety Solutions

Founder of Nutera Safety Solutions, Donald is a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and a registered Professional Engineer (PE) providing consulting and safety training services in New England. Donald has an MBA from Southern New Hampshire University. He holds advance certificates in Human Resource Management and Industrial Ventilation Design. Donald is also an OSHA certified instructor for the OSHA 10 & 30 Hour for Construction and General Industry course. From 2010-2018, he worked as the Environmental Health and Safety Manager for Ruger Firearms implementing many new safety initiatives and programs including Lockout/Tagout Machine Specific Procedures, PPE Hazard Assessments, and Chemical Inventories.
Don has served as the American Society of Safety Professionals New England Area Director for three terms and a period of 7 years. Donald has taught safety related classes at Keene State College, Harvard University, Antioch Graduate School and MIT. In his career, Donald has been Senior Vice President of Consulting for Marsh & McLennan, Corporate Director of EHS for Koch Membrane Systems, and Corporate Director of EHS for Apollo Computer.
James Sievert
Safety Consultant
Jim began his career as an ironworker in local union 404, Harrisburg, PA. After serving our country in the US Army for two years, he returned to civilian life and began his career in safety in 1973.

During this thirty year plus period, Mr. Sievert has had three very different careers. He started as a safety engineer for what was the largest construction engineering company in the world, at that time. He then became a project manager in construction, and then moved on to the insurance industry, as a Loss Control Professional. Professionally Mr. Sievert has had many interesting experiences. These include testifying in front of judicial and legislative bodies, training clients, overseeing the construction of the highest independent brick chimney linear in the world, and helping clients reduce their losses.

Mr. Sievert has received numerous awards and honors for his efforts, including the National Safety Council's Distinguished Service to Safety Award, the Henry Chase award for safety excellence, Junior Chamber International Senatorship, and US Junior Chamber Ambassadorship. These are three of the highest awards presented by these organizations.

Dan Soucy
NSC-NEC Instructor
Dan is Safety/Security Manager at a manufacturing facility in northern Maine, where he has worked in this field for 16 years and holds numerous certifications. Prior to this current role, Dan spent 29-years in Law enforcement, serving as Police Chief in two Maine communities. Unfortunately, in that role he saw far too many young people seriously injured and killed in M/V crashes. He believes driving is the greatest responsibility young people face daily, and wants to help each one face that responsibility and respect laws, rules and regulations to make better choices.

Dan has presented the Alive @ 25 program in-person and virtual classes since June 2015. He was the NSC Alive @ 25 Instructor of the Year in 2017.
David Berard
Safety Consultant, DB Services
David worked for OSHA for 31 years as a Compliance Officer and a Compliance Assistance Specialist involved in outreach activities. As a Compliance Officer, David was involved in over 2,500 inspections in construction, general industry, maritime, and agriculture. David has his own Occupational Safety Consulting business. He also works as a part-time instructor for the National Safety Council - New England Chapter, and is also a part-time instructor for the OSHA Training Institute. His certifications include Certified Safety Professional, authorized OSHA Construction Instructor, authorized OSHA General Industry Instructor, and Professional Engineer- State of NH.
